The World Conker
Championships
Are ON

The World Conker Championships committee met on Monday and, following extensive analysis of the size and number of available conkers across Europe, have concluded that there are a sufficient number of large playing conkers for the event to go ahead. The Championship committee were greatly heartened by the number of offers of help coming from across the country and abroad. Conkers have been received from Italy and France as well as multiple UK sites, including an official donation from Windsor Castle! Whilst there is still an issue of storage, the World Conker Championships are now in a position to state that this year’s competition will definitely go ahead.

Therefore, please come to take part and enjoy another great day out. There are places available for all junior players, included in the entry ticket. The long-term weather forecast is currently looking rather good – warm and dry. We particularly like seeing visitors and families enjoying the food, activities and stalls across the site, where there is plenty of room to spread out. There are food stalls, music, dancing, face painters, colouring competitions, a juggling workshop, children’s rides, guide dog demonstrations and a raft of artisan stores. And don’t forget your fancy dress and conker necklaces!

King Conker will be bringing his steel conker for you to have a look at, although it will be kept safely out of his reach – we don’t want any repeat of last year’s events. He says, ‘Come along and beat me fair and square!”
